Claridge announces progression to GP2 class for 2021 campaign

Go Racing Developments and SGR Racing have announced the signing of teenager Harvey Claridge for their 2021 Quattro Group British GP2 Championship campaign onboard the Chassis Factory GP2 for the forthcoming season.

The team have closely followed Claridge’s career, from being GP50 and 70 champion at the Fab Racing Mini Bike Championship, before most recently being selected for the Honda British Talent Cup series.

Following his season in the Honda British Talent Cup last year, where he finished fourth overall in the standings with a victory and a further four podium finishes, the team are ready to help him develop at the next stage of his career as he becomes one of the youngest riders on the grid at the age of 16.

Claridge said: “This is fantastic news for me to move up to the GP2 class with Mark and Steve in the British Supersport Championship. I’m sure it’s going to be tough coming from Moto3 to GP2 especially with the lack of winter testing currently, but I’m in great hands with Mark from Go Racing Developments as he knows his stuff. It’s going to be a great learning year!”

Mark Sadler of Go Racing Developments commented: “We feel that this is a brilliant opportunity to show that GP2 is the right direction, with the bike being lighter than a Stock 600 and less power to deal with than a Supersport bike. We can’t wait to see what Harvey is capable of in 2021.”
