Bradley Ray and Buildbase Suzuki scored their first Bennetts British Superbike Championship podium of the season last weekend at Oulton Park and are now feeling confident of turning their season around over the final three rounds.
Ray had qualified on the front row of the grid at Cadwell Park but was forced out of race one with a technical problem. However, the promise they showed continued in Cheshire with a haul of two podium finishes with confidence now high ahead of the .
Ray said: “It was a pretty incredible weekend to be fair. After the positive weekend we had at Cadwell I’d have been happy to have come to Oulton and kept building on that confidence and come away with a few top-six finishes, so to be leading races and picking up a couple of podiums is incredible.
“We came into Oulton a little bit more positive than what we have done throughout the season with the results we had at Cadwell during qualifying. Unfortunately, the races didn’t go to plan at Cadwell so it was difficult to gauge where we were at, but to come to Oulton and to qualify like we did and have the races that we have did, it was a massive step forward for myself and the team. It’s nice to be back up the front, challenging for podiums and to be leading races, so that is a massive step, a massive confidence boost for myself.
“We now have two weeks off, we’ll roll into Assen a lot more confident than what we had last weekend and hopefully we make a step forward and do the same again. The Ducatis are very strong but I believe we can do our best to try and beat them or if not challenge them for wins for the rest of the season now.
“A massive thanks to the team – they’ve not stopped working to get us to this point and have kept trying to help me feel more comfortable on the bike so it’s great to be able to reward them with some silverware. I think we’ve found a good base setting now and hopefully we can carry this on into Assen.”
