Northern Ireland based TAS Racing is owned and run by father and son pairing, Hector and Philip Neill. The team, who will run under the SYNETIQ BMW banner again in 2021, as BMW Motorrad UK’s Official squad, have signed Andrew Irwin and Danny Buchan to ride the all-new M 1000 RR S1000RR machinery in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, after TAS Racing celebrated its 20th Anniversary last year.

The TAS Racing team initially started competitive racing on the roads in 2001. Since their inception they have amassed an impressive résumé including lap records and wins at all the major road race events including the Isle of Man TT.

TAS Racing stepped up to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in 2008 after four successful seasons in the British Supersport Championship. The team moved to Bennetts BSB as the reigning British Supersport champions with Michael Laverty.

In 2008 Laverty proved that the squad could mix it at the front with the already established teams in the paddock whilst Alastair Seeley secured the team the National Superstock 1000 and British Supersport titles in 2009 and 2011. Both Laverty and Seeley sealed Showdown positions for the team during their tenure.

The team narrowly missed out on the Showdown in recent seasons with riders including Christian Iddon, Michael Laverty and their 2018 National Superstock champion Keith Farmer. Last season Bradley Ray scored SYNETIQ BMW top ten finishes on the S 1000 RR, with Taylor Mackenzie hampered by injury.

“To be honest we are very excited at the opportunity to work with Andrew and having watched his progress this past few years, he is clearly a potential future champion. Personally, I admire Andrew’s determination on track and his professional attitude off it, so this will be a perfect fit for SYNETIQ BMW. Andrew’s desire to join us at TAS Racing was extremely motivating and this made the decision very easy when the opportunity became available. Danny Buchan is a very welcome addition to SYNETIQ BMW for 2021. Once again Danny’s desire to join TAS Racing and to ride the new M 1000 RR was extremely motivating and too good an opportunity to miss. BMW as a manufacturer has confirmed their desire for success with the introduction of the race-bred M 1000 RR for 2021, and as a team, TAS Racing is determined to add more BSB Superbike success to our record. We believe that Danny, together with Andrew Irwin, is the perfect combination to help us achieve our goals and we look forward to the 2021 racing season with much enthusiasm. There is already a buzz in the air at SYNETIQ BMW. We can’t wait to get started.” Philip Neill, Team Owner
